LUCAS FAZARDO
PhD student
I am currently a Ph.D. student in the Biotechnology and Biosciences program at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), undertaking a sandwich doctorate at the University of Minho. Previously, I earned my Master's degree in the same program at UFSC and my Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP - Rio Claro).
My current research project focuses on analyzing the impact of phthalate plasticizer contamination in green turtles. To achieve this, I am applying an integrative omics approach that combines metabarcoding analysis, conducted at the University of Minho, with metabolomics and targeted phthalate analysis at the Applied Biochemistry and Metabolomics Laboratory (LMBA). This work also involves the development and validation of gas chromatography methods for marine matrices.
My main scientific interests encompass ecotoxicology, the study of marine microbiomes, multi-omics integration, and analytical chemistry.
